An international workshop on optical Thomson scattering will be held at the University of Rochester. With the ever-expanding interest in Thomson scattering, this two-day workshop (August 13–14, 2019) invites the participants to share their recent advancements. We anticipate participation from scientists working on plasmas that span a range of conditions (e.g., ICF, HED, and pulsed power) created at various facilities (e.g., Omega, NIF, MAGPIE, COBRA)
Potential topics include:
- Plasma characterization
- 5ω Thomson scattering on the NIF
- Measuring electron distribution functions with collective Thomson scattering
- Thomson-scattering techniques/lessons learned in implementing Thomson scattering on large laser facilities
- Advanced modeling of Thomson-scattering spectra
